Abstract : In a plantation of 4 trees each of 5 cultivars, the fruit set was measured on the 4 sides, and at 3 heights for each tree in Jan./Feb. 1985. The overall % fruit set, as an average of 3 panicles, was 2.84 (Alphonso), 2.69 (Dashehari), 2.46 (Langra), 1.90 (Mallika) and 0.77 (Pairi). Percentage fruit set was significantly higher on the west-facing side (2.83) than on the north (1.88), south (2.07) or east (1.76) side, and was higher in the middle (2.68) than at the top (1.94) or bottom (1.78) of the tree.
