Effect of growth regulator on the success of epicotyl grafting in mango.

Abstract : Cv. Bangalora scions, defoliated 5-7 days previously, were treated, by the quick dip method, with growth regulator solutions (IAA at 200, 250, 500, 750 and 1000 p.p.m., and GA at 200 p.p.m.) before stone grafting. The grafting success rate was increased by all concentrations of IAA, the optimum being 750 p.p.m. IAA. GA did not increase the success rate. The number of leaves and total leaf area per plant increased with increasing IAA concentration upto 1000 p.p.m. The effect of IAA on rate of transpiration and water movement was variable.
