Role of auxin-phenol complex in shot-hole syndrome development in mango incited by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides.

Abstract : IAA accumulated in the lesions of C. gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata] while the surrounding tissues showed a reduction in IAA content. Both IAA oxidase and peroxidase activity was inhibited in the lesions while there was an increase in polyphenol oxidase. Phenols accumulated in the lesions and the Mn content was reduced. Possible reasons for the formation of the shot holes are discussed.
