Abstract : Internal fruit necrosis (IFN) is a non-pathological disorder caused by boron deficiency resulting from high soil pH, high Ca and free CO32- in soil, and N fertilization. Dashehari is the most, and Langra the least susceptible cultivar. Boron application by foliar spray (0.1% B) was more effective than soil application (10-50 g/tree) for controlling IFN. Levels of B in leaves (31 to 96 p.p.m.) and fruits (7 to 20 p.p.m.) showed an inverse relationship with incidence of IFN (16% to 2%).
