Studies on greenwood wedge grafting in mango varieties.

Abstract : An experiment was carried out at the College of Agriculture, Dharwad on mango cultivars Alphonso, Pairi, Neelum, Totapuri and Mallika, wedge grafted onto one-year-old seedlings raised from local mango trees. Grafting was carried out at 3 fortnightly intervals in Feb./Mar. 1987. Highest % sprouting (88.66%) and % graft-take (44.66%) were obtained with grafting during the second fortnight of Mar. Among the cultivars, highest % sprouting (75.55%) and graft-take (57.10%) were obtained with Mallika. The lowest number of days taken for graft union formation was obtained with grafting during the first fortnight of Mar. (32.6 days) and with cv. Totapuri (30.3 days).
