Abstract : The mean yields per tree of the varieties in the first seven years of cropping are tabulated. Alternate bearing was more pronounced in some varieties than in others. In respect of fruit size, the varieties could be placed in five groups ranging from large fruit with an index of 1.220 to 0.945 (Kent, Keitt, Palmer and Edward) to small fruit with an index of 0.525 to 0.425 (Santaella and Ruby). Yearly yields are related to and can be predicted from the square of the trunk diameter. Kneitt had the highest commercial value, followed at a distance by Jacquelin and Sensation.
