Abstract : The phorid Megaselia chlumetiae sp. nov. is described from examples found parasitizing larvae of the noctuid mango pest Chlumetia transversa in Sindhudurg District, Maharashtra State, India, in 1989. Eggs were laid on the integument of the host larva. Newly emerged fly larvae entered the host and developed by consuming the host's internal tissues. Pupariation normally took place within the host's empty skin.
