Abstract : In a field experiment in the Philippines in 1985-86, cages were placed around groups of developing mango fruits and field-collected adults of Idioscopus clypealis were introduced. The economic threshold levels (ETL) of infestation were determined for different treatments. In the 1st cropping, the ETLs at 2, 10, 18 and 26 days after flower bud break for cyfluthrin or permethrin + piperonyl butoxide were 1.86, 1.90, 1.96 and 2.01 I. clypealis/mango panicle or 4.00, 4.08, 4.23 and 4.32 I. clypealis/mango panicle, resp. In the 2nd cropping, the corresponding values for cyfluthrin were 2.29, 2.32, 2.42 and 2.47 and for permethrin + piperonyl butoxide were 4.76, 4.86, 5.04 and 5.15 I. clypealis/mango panicle.
