Abstract : Eggs of Amritodus atkinsoni, Idioscopus niveosparsus and I. clypealis were collected from mangoes in Karnataka, India, in 1975-76. They were reared in the laboratory and released as adults into cages outdoors. The incubation period was 5-6 days and the 1st larval instar lasted 2-3 days in all species. For A. atkinsoni, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th larval instars lasted for 3-4, 2-3 and 3-4 days, resp. The corresponding values for I. niveosparsus were 2-3, 2-3 and 3-4 days and for I. clypealis were 3-4, 3-4 and 3-4 days. Adult longevity was 4-8, 4-7 and 3-6 days in each of the species, resp. A. atkinsoni and I. niveosparsus could be bred on leaves or inflorescences, whilst I. clypealis required the plants to be flowering.
