Influence of green manuring on the soil nutrient composition in mango orchard.

Abstract : The available nutrient status of a mango orchard soil (alluvial soil) from India increased following the application of green manures. The green manuring crops were: dhaincha (Sesbania aculeata), pea (Pisum sativum), French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), sunhemp (Crotalaria juncea), and cowpea (Vigna unguiculata). It is concluded that the practice of green manuring, by increasing soil nutrient status, will result in better leaf nutrient status and flowering in the mango plants.
