Abstract : Research and extension programmes on postharvest handling and marketing of fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants are described. Crops covered include apples, avocados, bananas, carambolas, Citrus, longans, litchis, mangoes, pawpaws, pineapples, rambutans, cucurbits, tomatoes, and foliage and flowering pot plants, and topics covered include quality assurance, cold and controlled atmosphere (CA) storage, disease control, insect disinfestation of fruits for export, construction of experimental CA systems, and packaging and transport.
