Abstract : Major (N, P and K) and trace (Cu, Zn and B) elements were applied through the soil and/or as a foliar spray, to 28-year-old mango cv. Dashehari trees from 1988 to 1990. Soil applications were made in Sep./Oct. and Jan./Feb.; foliar applications were made in Sep./Oct. and when fruits were at the pea stage. With regard to major elements, the highest yields (number of fruits/tree and kg fruits/tree) were obtained with soil + foliar applications. Yield as kg fruits/tree decreased with increasing concentration of trace elements but increased when calculated in terms of tree volume, and was higher with soil application. Individual fruit weight increased and fruit number decreased with increasing trace element application. Fruit quality was improved by higher trace element application. There were significant interactions between major and trace element treatments.
