Abstract : Kent mango scions were veneer-grafted on 13-month-old rootstocks which were cut back either at the time of grafting or 3, 6 or 9 days afterwards at 10, 20 or 30 cm above the union. Cutting back at 10 or 20 cm on the day of grafting avoided apical dominance, hastened scion growth, increased percentage take and number of shoots/graft, and led to longer scion shoots 45 days after grafting, compared with other treatments.
