Abstract : Vegetative growth parameters and susceptibility to anthracnose [Glomerella cingulata] were recorded for 12 mango cultivars (grafted on a rootstock) during the first 3 years after planting. The cultivar Kalapady made least growth (from a height of 28.9 cm at planting to 106.6 cm 3 years later). Totapuri, Gaddemar, Kare Ishad and Neelum were the most vigorous. The number of terminal shoots/plant after 3 years was greatest in Mankurad (297.8) and least in Rathna (53.8). Cultivars with many such shoots are likely to produce numerous flower panicles. No cultivars were free of anthracnose; there were great variations in % incidence and severity of infection. The highest incidence was observed in Rathnagiri Alphonso (95%) and Gaddemar (90%) and the least in Kalapady (28.7%).
