Abstract : Changes in the carbohydrate content during the period of fruit bud differentiation (FBD) were studied diurnally in cv. Alphonso, in buds which were expected to flower, to produce vegetative growth or to remain dormant. The starch content did not vary during the different stages of FBD in the buds which were expected to flower. Contents of reducing and non-reducing sugars were lower in those buds during FBD than before its onset. Differentiated (post FBD) buds had higher contents of both sugar types than the buds which were expected to produce vegetative growth. The data are tabulated.
