Abstract : The hibernation behaviour of Sternochetus mangiferae and S. gravis [S. frigidus] is described from the literature and from field and laboratory observations in Manipur, India. The body colour of the hibernating insects varied according to the site of hibernation. Those under the bark of mango trees mimicked the bark while those inside the decaying fruit and nuts turned blackish in colour. Hibernating insects possessed wings that appeared to be fully developed.
