Parasites and predators of insect pests of mango.

Abstract : New records are given of parasitoids and predators recorded attacking insect pests of mango following surveys conducted in Uttar Pradesh, India, in 1986-88. They include the following: Cryptochetum sp. parasitizing 1st- and 2nd-instar nymphs of the margarodid Drosicha mangiferae; the eulophid Aprostocetus sp. and the mymarids Gonatocerus sp. and Polynema sp. parasitizing eggs of the cicadellids Idioscopus clypealis and I. nitidulus; six species of predators, including the chrysopids Chrysopa lacciperda [Plesiochrysa lacciperda] and Mallada boninensis, preying on nymphs of I. clypealis, I. nitidulus and Amritodus atkinsoni; the cecidomyiid Coccodiplosis sp. preying on the pseudococcid Rastrococcus iceryoides; and 3 species of hymenopterous parasitoids, including the eulophids Tetrastichus gala [Aprostocetus gala] and Aprostocetus sp., parasitizing larvae of the cecidomyiid Erosomyia indica [E. mangiferae].
