Abstract : The effects of guava, mango, papaya [pawpaw], starfruit and tomato on larval survival, adult eclosion and size of Bactrocera sp. were investigated. Pupation and adult emergence were the same in all fruits except guava, on which fewer adults emerged. Pawpaw and mango, which contained relatively large quantities of carbohydrates and had a relatively acidic pH, yielded the largest adults. Increasing larval density reduced larval survival, adult emergence and adult size.
