Abstract : In field experiments in Karnataka, India, the persistence of 4 pyrethroid insecticides on mangoes was determined. Permethrin (0.02%), cypermethrin (0.01%) and fenvalerate (0.01%) persisted for 3 weeks, the residues dissipating at half-life values of 5.67, 5.83 and 5.33 days, resp. This corresponded to a waiting period of 7.27, 3.45 and 11.27 days after spraying, resp. Deltamethrin (0.002%) persisted for only 1 week and no waiting period was required before fruit could be consumed.
