Abstract : An investigation was carried out to identify the insect pollinators of mango flowers and to establish their role in fruit setting. The major pollinating insects were Melipona sp. and Syrphus sp. A number of coleopteran species, especially Coccinella septempunctata, were also of importance. The mango pest Rhynchaenus mangiferae aided pollination and increased fruit set when its population was below the economic threshold level. The lowest activity of pollinators was observed when the crop was sprayed with deltamethrin (0. 002%) and monocrotophos (0.05%).
