Variations in the rate of development of two sexes of Rastrococcus spinosus (Robinson) on various host plants.

Abstract : Rastrococcus spinosus was reared in the laboratory on leaves of lemon, mango or guava. On lemon, the durations of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd instars of females and males were 12-14 and 10-15, 7-10 and 8-13, and 6-9 and 6-11 days, resp. On mango, the durations were 14-19 and 11-14, 7-11 and 7-9, and 5-6 and 9-12 days, resp. On guava they were 11-14 and 7-9, 7-10 and 10-11, and 5-7 and 11-14 days, resp. The total development periods of females and males on lemon, mango and guava were 25-31 and 29-35, 28-32 and 30-32, and 26-28 and 30-32 days, resp.
