Abstract : The amount of chlorine in the leaves of mango trees suffering from leaf scorch was about 4 times that of healthy leaves; the Na and Ca levels were also high and the K level was low. Artificial scorching was induced by spraying trees with 2% NaCl. When affected trees were sprayed 4 times with 5% K2SO4 leaf scorch was reduced compared with untreated trees and the foliar K level was raised from 0.65% to 0.82%. Soil application of K2SO4 at 2.5 kg/tree also gave promising results.
