Abstract : The role of ethylene as a promoter of flowering in plants including pineapple, mango, ornamental bromeliads, Iris, Narcissus and Brodiaea, is discussed. It is suggested that the enhanced growth of Brodiaea corm apical meristems when treated with ethylene may be the means by which flower initiation is promoted.
