Abstract : Husked or unhusked mango seeds were sown 2 inches deep in clay soil, peatmoss or sawdust at an average temperature of 30°C and 85% RH. Averaged over all media, percentage germination for husked seeds after 10, 18 and 24 days was 39.78, 80.67 and 96.22%, respectively, compared with 0, 11.1 and 45.56%, respectively for unhusked seeds. Percentage germination was higher in sawdust than in the other 2 media. The highest germination percentage (98.67%) was obtained within 10 days of sowing husked seeds in sawdust.
