Abstract : In order to estimate the quality of some tropical fruits, an equation was derived to express the relationship between the organic acid content of a sample solution of fruit juice and the specific conductance of the precisely diluted solution. The best correlations for Indian blackberries [Rubus sp.?], pineapples and mangoes (r = 0.983, 0.949 and 0.964, respectively) were achieved with a 300-fold dilution with water containing 0.01 M imidazole, so the free acid concentration could be determined without interference from sugars and inorganic substances.
