Abstract : Ten-year-old mother trees of cv. Langra were sprayed with 200 mg GA3, 1000 mg Cycocel [chlormequat], 250 mg CEPA or 1000 mg Cycocel + 250 mg CEPA [ethephon]/litre. Cuttings taken from GA3-treated trees showed poor rooting while the remaining treatments improved rooting compared with the control (trees sprayed with a wetting agent alone). Rooting was further improved when the cuttings were dipped in an auxin solution, particularly IBA at 10-2 M and NAA at 2 × 10-2 M. Allowing a gap of 7 days between spraying and taking the cuttings resulted in better rooting and cutting survival than allowing a gap of 3 days.
