Abstract : General patterns of growth in mango are discussed and detailed advice is provided on (1) training newly planted trees, (2) increasing the degree of peripheral branching of bearing trees, (3) treatment of cultivars that respond poorly to tipping, (4) regulation of inter-branch length and canopy spread, (5) maintenance of tree size and (6) thinning to reduce the density of the tree canopy.
