Abstract : Initial data on shoot growth, root growth and flowering in 13-year-old cv. Sensation trees were collected in 1990-91 with the aim of constructing a phenological model of growth and carbohydrate content variation with time during a season. They are presented graphically as a monthly percentage of total activity. Two periods of shoot growth and a single peak of root growth were recorded. There was a wide variation in carbohydrate content in most of the plant parts analysed. The reserves appeared to be stored mainly in the trunk wood. The final model (to be based on 2 or more annual cycles) will be used to optimize the timing of specific cultural practices.
