Abstract : Large-scale defoliation of mango by larvae of Orgyia postica was noticed in orchards of the Behat area of Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, India, in June-July 1987; light infestation also occurred in Lucknow. In some cases the fruits were also attacked and rendered unmarketable. Larvae were also observed feeding on Eugenia jambolana [Syzygium cumini] and pear. Parasitoids recorded at Lucknow were the tachinid Exorista sp. and the chalcidid Brachymeria lasus.
