Abstract : During trials carried out in 1988 in Andhra Pradesh, India, trees of the mango hybrid Panchadarakalasa × Willard were severely affected by gummosis, while the remaining 9 hybrids investigated were disease free. This hybrid was also the only accession held by the Regional Fruit Research Station at Anantharajupet, Andhra Pradesh, to be affected by this disease. Botryodiplodia theobromae was isolated from diseased trees and pathogenicity was confirmed. The disease could be controlled using a paste of Bordeaux mixture or carbendazim.
