Abstract : Hot water (55°C/2 min) plus prochloraz at 40.5 or 81 g a.i./hl controlled anthracnose, caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata], effectively and suppressed the development of soft brown rot, caused by Hendersonia creberrima, in mangoes stored for 4 weeks at 11°. Chloramizol-sulfate (imazalil) was ineffective against anthracnose. Treatment using hot water at 52° for 5 minutes followed by a spray treatment of imazalil (100 g a.i./hl) resulted in effective control of soft brown rot. However, under high disease pressure this treatment failed to control soft brown rot. Hot water at 52° for 5 min followed by a 40 s dip in quazatine (100 a.i./hl), at ambient temp., also gave effective control of soft brown rot.
