Abstract : During 1989-90, malformed mangoes were surveyed in the Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh, India. Malformed plants were shorter and had shallower root systems than healthy plants and younger plants were more affected by the disease than older trees. It is suggested that pollution may be an important factor.
