Abstract : The storage and transport of fruits produced in Colombia and destined for export are briefly discussed under the following headings and subheadings: physiological and technical concepts for storage (physiology, refrigeration and CA); and recommendations for storage and transport of fruits (quality requirements, guidelines for management of stores and means of transport, temperatures, RH and maximum storage time, choice of a cold store, precooling, control of storage conditions, air exchange, management of fruit load, and storage and/or refrigerated transport in CA). Data are also tabulated on numerous aspects of storage of 14 fruit species including avocados, bananas, mandarins, mangoes, oranges, pawpaws and pineapples.
