Abstract : This proceedings includes short introductory papers on the present status and outlook for horticultural crops, and on floriculture and fruit trees in Taiwan, and 17 papers on various aspects of forced culture. A general section includes 5 papers on regulation of flowering, water status, metaxenia and cultural practices for fruit production, and experimental design for horticultural crops. A section on forcing of flowering crops includes 4 papers on Phalaenopsis, freesia, Asiatic lilies and strawberries. Papers on forcing of evergreen fruit trees include work on litchi, mango and Syzygium samarangense and those on deciduous fruit trees cover grapevine, oriental pear, Pyrus serotina [P. pyrifolia] and persimmon.
