Abstract : The origin, distribution in the subtropics, climatic requirements, soil requirements, cultivars and rootstocks, cultural methods (propagation, planting, fertilizers, irrigation, growth control, control of weeds, pests and diseases, and frost protection measures), harvesting, yields and postharvest management are described for avocados, mangoes, litchis and longans, particularly in relation to their cultivation in subtropical environments.
