Abstract : Mangiferin concn was measured in healthy, monstrous and malformed inflorescences and their adjoining leaves at different stages of development from pre-emergence of flower buds to full bloom. It was concluded that the influx of mangiferin into differentiating flower buds and developing panicles, caused by biotic and abiotic stress factors, tilted the hormonal balance in favour of vegetative growth, causing malformation.
