Abstract : Branches of cvs Bombai, Zardalu, Hemsagar and Langra were scored, half-girdled, girdled, stripped, notched or left untreated. The wounds healed quickest in Zardalu. In all cvs new shoots sprouted from the branches just below the cuts. Acute N deficiency occurred in the ringed branches. It is considered that ringing branches of cvs with a biennial bearing tendency, such as Bombai, Hemsagar and Zardalu, in September in an on year will increase the crop in the following off year.
