Abstract : Florida is the source of many important mango cultivars used throughout the world. The morphological characteristics, strengths and weaknesses, handling and shipping characteristics of Florida cultivars are discussed. The cultivars are divided into 5 groups based on production volume. Group 1, with the greatest production, consists of Tommy Atkins, Keitt and Van Dyke. Group 2 contains Palmer and Irwin, closely followed by group 3 with Kent and Golden Nuggets. Group 4 consists of cv. Haden, from older orchards, and group 5 is the minor cultivars Brooks, Davis-Haden, Edward, Glenn, Fascell, Lippens, Parvin, Sensation, Smith and Zill.
