Study of the effects of three flower-inducing substances on 'Kent' and 'Zill' mango.

Abstract : Induction of flowering in mango cultivars Zill and Kent was attempted with 'Miracle Blum Powder' (1.5%), 'Mango Flowerset' (1.5%) and ' Boom Mango Flower Induce' (0.5%). The flowering period was not affected by the treatments. The potassium-nitrate-based 'Mango Flowerset' increased the number of panicles, compared with controls, by 25% in cv. Zill and 90% in cv. Kent, with a corresponding increase in number of fruits and yield/tree. The other 2 materials (unknown active ingredients) produced different results with the 2 cultivars; both materials had little effect on the cv. Kent, whereas 'Miracle Blum Powder' and 'Boom Mango Flower Induce' suppressed and increased flowering, respectively in cv. Zill.
