Abstract : Malformed seedlings of cv. Dusheri showed significantly higher contents of total carbohydrates, total sugars, reducing sugars, non-reducing sugars, starch, total phenolics, orthodihydroxy phenolics, DNA, RNA, proteins, total free amino acids, total amino acids, and ammonia than healthy seedlings during 3 years of study. However, the C:N ratio was significantly lower in malformed seedlings than in healthy ones. The levels of threonine, serine, proline, glycine, alanine, valine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, histidine, arginine, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, tyrosine, phenylalanine and tryptophan were also significantly higher than in healthy seedlings. The contents of cysteine and methionine were higher in malformed seedlings than in healthy seedlings which contained only trace amounts.
