Effect of iron chelates in correcting malformation of terminal bud growth of mango in the Sudan.

Abstract : Soil application of 50 or 100 g/tree of chelated Fe as Chel-138 to 3-year-old mangoes in alkaline clay loam corrected moderate to severe symptoms of bud malformation. Foliar application at 10 g/l was ineffective. A single soil application at 1 lb/tree to mature trees corrected malformation, increased flowering and increased the yield from 5 fruits/tree in the first year to 212 and 468 fruits in the second and third years.
