Abstract : The effect of B on root development and the sensitivity of different vegetative organs to toxic B levels were studied using mango cv. Sabre seedlings placed in 50% Hoagland nutrient solutions containing 0.25, 2.5, 5.0 or 10.0 mg B/litre. The average FW and DW of all vegetative parts declined with increasing B concentration. The highest B accumulation occurred in the leaves, being much higher there than in the roots and stems. Root development appeared normal, even at the highest B concentration. Boron toxicity symptoms occurred in plants growing in the 5.0- and 10.0-mg/litre solutions. Only the mature leaves were affected.
