Abstract : Reciprocal in vitro hand pollinations were performed on 5 mango cultivars, viz., Isis, Keitt, Kent, Tommy Atkins and Sensation. Pollination success was expressed as the average percentage of pistils with pollen tubes reaching the ovary. Time of pollination and female parent both played an important role in pollination success, although the interaction between female parent and time of pollination had the largest effect. This is a clear indication of differences in receptivity existing among the cultivars. In Tommy Atkins, Sensation and Kent, pollination success rate was much higher in the morning than in the afternoon, while in Isis and Keitt, the reverse was observed.
