Abstract : The results of six consecutive seasons of trials on mango cv. Fascell trees (12 years old at the start of the trial in 1988) showed that by not irrigating during the winter months, annual production can be increased by 9%, and water use can be reduced by 20%. The trial also showed that the total annual water requirement of mature mango trees is approximately 11?976 m³/ha. Furthermore, seasonal water requirement varies from 20 m³?ha-1?day-1 in winter to about 44 m³?ha-1?day-1 in summer.
