Abstract : Neutron capture radiography was used to study the distribution of B in mango fruits. The concentration of natural B decreased from the skin (83.9 p.p.m.) to the interior of the fruit (2.4 p.p.m. at 5.6 mm depth in the fruit). When drops of a solution of (10B) H3BO3 were placed on the fruit surface, B accumulated in restricted zones on the fruit skin which apparently corresponded to skin secretory glands. The apparent coefficient of diffusion of H3BO3 from these zones of high B accumulation to the interior of the fruit was of the order of 1.6 × 10-12 m²/s.
