Evaluation of four designs and distances of traps for the capture of Mediterranean fruit fly.

Abstract : Four trap designs were tested for adults of Ceratitis capitata in a mango orchard in Venezuela during June and August 1988. The designs were: vertical and horizontal Nadel, and Steiner and McPhail traps. The sex pheromone Trimedlure was used in the first 3 traps and Torula Yeast Borax in the McPhail trap. Traps were placed at distances of 12, 24, 36 and 48 m. The most effective distance was 36 m and the most effective trap was the vertical Nadel.
