Abstract : Notes are provided on the biology, injuriousness, distribution and parasitoids of Procontarinia matteiana, a gall-forming cecidomyiid of mango, special attention being paid to conditions in South Africa. The only known parasitoid in South Africa is the eulophid Chrysonotomyia pulcherrima, and a high rate of parasitism usually occurs. However, in some areas of South Africa parasitism is not sufficient and damage caused by the cecidomyiid could reach alarming proportions.
