A comparative study of mango hybrids Mahmudbahar and Prabhashankar with their parents.

Abstract : Fruit quality was assessed in Mangifera indica late season hybrid cultivars Mahmudbahar and Prabhashankar (both derived from Bombai × Kalapady), together with their parents, during 1989-90. Mahmudbahar had medium sized fruits (210 g) with high pulp percentage (70.8%) and total soluble solids (22%) Fruits were rated as sweet. Fruits of Prabhashankar had an average fruit weight of 192.5 g, 23% total soluble solids and scored 78 out a possible 100 for organoleptic traits. Fruits were rated as very sweet.
