Abstract : This paper studies the extent to which farmers have adopted recommended practices for mango crops in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, India, and how this relates to socioeconomic characteristics. Results indicate that most mango growers were middle aged and were educated up to high school level. They possessed up to 2 ha of land, earnt Rs 10 000 and had a moderate amount of social participation. A majority of respondents were in the category of medium adoption, and few were in the low adoption category. Knowledge and social participation had a positive significant relationship with the adoption of mango practices, while age, education levels, and land holding were not related to adoption.
