Abstract : This study estimates the physical and economic losses at the trader and retail level incurred in the marketing of Dashehari and Chausa varieties of mango. Data for 1988 on losses were collected from ten commission agents/wholesalers/mashakhors at New Sabzi Mandis, Azadpur and from three retailers at various retail markets in Delhi, India. Postharvest losses incurred in the marketing process were found to be high, particularly if damaged or disease affected fruit is not allowed to be sold in the market.
